The exotic Chinese tattoos are so attractive that people want them without being aware of what they stand for. The western television media has popularized the Chinese tattoos to such an extent that the young people there get the tattoos done permanently on their body without bothering about their meaning.

As an art form Chinese tattoos present an exotic and interesting means of presenting it. It is so aesthetically presented that today it is claiming world wide fame though this form of expression have been around for centuries. Interestingly Chinese themselves do not put much value on tattooing as it is not considered to be respectable.

The large numbers of symbols that symbolize Chinese tattoos have deep philosophical meanings attached to them which are different from each other. In spite of such superior tattoo art tattooing itself was regarded as a barbaric art in olden days in China.

Why the Chinese took tattooing as an exception was the fact that these symbols were engraved on the bodies of the criminals in ancient times who were treated as outcasts. Now of course the view has changed as Chinese tattooing has become so popular all over the world especially in the west.

Since the bulk of the people who have developed a craze for Chinese tattoo signs do not speak Chinese there is a great demand for translating names, ideas and concepts of another language into Chinese tattoo symbols. This is very much possible with the 4000 year history of Chinese symbols any thing you can imagine can be translated into Chinese tattoo symbols.

Every idea is translated into a symbol of Chinese language which is extremely artistic. This is a scientifically developed art which consists of 70, 000 concepts and you will probably run out of ideas to translate concepts into Chinese symbol for tattooing purpose or otherwise. Thus you can be certain that any idea from any language can be successfully translated to Chinese symbol and still look equally pleasing.

Some people mistake conventional Chinese symbols to be the same as the script known as Kanji. The fact of the matter is that the Kanji although Chinese in origin was adopted and modified by the Japanese. Whereas the Chinese tattoo symbols that may even have a similar physical appearance can have drastically different meanings.
